Bursaries

Conferences such as Pharmacology 2025 are fantastic opportunities for career development. The British Pharmacological Society (BPS) strives to make these opportunities as accessible and equitable as possible.

We are delighted to confirm the BPS will be offering a number of bursaries to support members attending Pharmacology 2025.

BPS Travel Bursary

The BPS Travel Bursary supports members attending various BPS events throughout the year, including Pharmacology 2025. Both abstract presenters and attendees are welcome to apply.

The Society aims to cover recipients' early bird registration fees, and:

  • up to 50% of travel and accommodation costs for Full Members and Fellows.
  • up to  75% for Undergraduates and Early Career Members.
Awards will be based on the number of applications, the allocated budget and the Society’s assessment of the most economical mode of travel and a reasonable standard of accommodation.

BPS care support bursary

BPS members with caring responsibilities can apply for a care support bursary worth up to £200 to help cover caring costs to allow you to attend Pharmacology 2025. You must apply for the bursary at least one month before
 the conference.

Free attendance for chaperones

Free event registration is available for any required chaperones. Please contact the events team to discuss this further: meetings@bps.ac.uk


Bursaries awarded in 2024

£24,000 by BPS

The British Pharmacological Society awarded a total of £24,000 in bursaries to 96 individuals to help them present at or attend Pharmacology 2024. £12,000 was awarded to abstract presenters and £12,000 was awarded to attendees.

£4,250 awarded by Wiley

In addition, BPS journals publisher Wiley generously awarded an extra £4,250 to support 12 early career researchers (ECRs) and 3 female ECRs from low- and middle-income countries to attend the conference.

ASPET Travel Award

The American Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASPET) also awarded its own Travel Award (funded by the ASPET General Fund) to support graduate students and postdoctoral scientists attend the conference.
