Charities are categorised as focused on education, the environment, equity diversity and inclusion, food poverty, and social and community wellbeing.

Incredible Education
Incredible Education is a social enterprise in Salford that specialises in helping people to improve their wellbeing by connecting them to nature.
Once Castlefield Viaduct was a vital transport artery pumping life into Manchester’s industrial and commercial heart, but in 1969 it was abandoned, remaining unused for 50 years. In 2022 the National Trust and partners reimagined half of this 330m metal mega-structure as a garden in the sky – with free access for all.
City of Trees
City of Trees plants trees, looks after trees and promotes a culture of trees. Rooted here in Greater Manchester, they are passionate about making the region even better, one tree at a time.
Greater Manchester Environment Trust
The Greater Manchester Environment Trust (GMET) channels green finance into Greater Manchester. They work with grassroots groups, corporate supporters and a network of partners across the city region to make Greater Manchester greener for all.
Manchester Urban Diggers (MUD)
MUD is a social enterprise working to create food system change and empower communities. They promote and develop disused urban areas as a small but important part of the food economy.
Northern Roots
Northern Roots exists to transform 160 acres of neglected land in Oldham, Greater Manchester, connecting communities and creating opportunities for all to grow.
Sow The City
Sow the City is a Manchester-based social enterprise that champions the importance of nature in cities, by transforming unused urban spaces into thriving green spaces and providing activities to connect people in cities with the living world.
Afrocats is an award-winning charity that supports people who face social exclusion in Greater Manchester. They are a Black and female-led charity that works closely with children, young people and women who are from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
Gig Buddies
Gig Buddies is dedicated to helping people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people overcome loneliness and live the lives they choose through shared social experiences. They match people with volunteers who share their interests, so they can go to gigs, evening events, or simply hang out - as equals and as friends.
LGBT Foundation
LGBT Foundation is a national LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing charity based in Manchester. They offer life-saving services and activities for those in need, giving help and hope to LGBTQ+ people on their journey to achieving their aspirations.
Pankhurst Trust (incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid)
The Pankhurst Trust is a women-led charity that provides domestic abuse services, manages the historic Grade II listed building where the suffragette movement began, and runs a museum dedicated to the Pankhurst family. Their vision is of a society where every woman has a right to be safe and to be heard and can take action to drive the change she wants to see.
Proud Trust
The Proud Trust is a charity supporting LGBTQ+ young people to be proud of their identity. The charity delivers bespoke support for LGBTQ+ young people and the adults in their lives across the UK, as well as in-person work in Greater Manchester.
At Cracking Good Food, their mission is simple: to work collaboratively with others to alleviate food and fuel poverty and increase food sustainability across Greater Manchester.
Eat Well MCR
Eat Well MCR is a collective of Manchester-based chefs and restaurants providing meals to people living in challenging circumstances.
Humans MCR
Humans MCR analyses and responds to the root causes of generational food poverty, and works to give respect, health, dignity and hope to those in our communities.
Manchester Central Food Bank
Manchester Central Foodbank supports hundreds of families across central, east and north Manchester each month.
